Hike for Charity : A Success Story of Community and Care

On July 6th, 2024, the Emalaheni/Witbank Dam Resort bustled with activity as Care West Foundation hosted a fantastic charity hiking event! This wasn’t your average hike; it was a day filled with scenic beauty, team-building challenges, and most importantly, the spirit of giving back.

Organized in collaboration with Zitholama Cleaning & Hygiene, Sucasa Burial Estates, Assets Capital Loan, Spar Saveways and many other local businesses. The event aimed to collect clothing and blankets for those in need. The 10km route itself was a treat for the participants, offering

a glimpse into the Witbank Dam Game Reserve. Imagine spotting zebras and springboks while getting some exercise for a good cause – that’s what made this hike so special!

But the fun didn’t stop there. Laughter filled the air as adults and children alike participated in exciting team-building games like tug-of-war, egg racing, and sack racing. The event truly embodied Care West Foundation’s motto, “Umuntu ngakahlahlesaphila” which translates to “we should never give up on our fellow human being so long as they’re alive.” This powerful message resonated throughout the day, reminding everyone of the importance of supporting one another.

The resounding success of this charity hike wouldn’t have been possible without the collaborative efforts of Care West Foundation, Zitholama, Sucasa, and Assets Capital Loan. A huge thank you goes out to all the participants, sponsors, and organizers who made this event so memorable! Together, we collected much-needed clothing and blankets, promoted a sense of community, and most importantly, had a fantastic day while doing it.
